NZB South Island Sale Tomorrow

Thursday, 9th August 2012

New Zealand Bloodstock's annual South Island Sale of Two-Year-Olds and Mixed Bloodstock is set to get underway tomorrow at 11am at Canterbury Agricultural Park in Christchurch. Offering 154 untried 2YOs, and encompassing the progeny of 56 stallions, graduates will be following in the hoof prints of recent elite alumni including Gr1 Caulfield Cup winner Master O'Reilly, Gr1 VRC Derby winner Second Coming & Gr1 NZ 2000 Guineas winner Hustler. Linking in with the New Zealand Bloodstock's Southern Filly of the Year Series, this year's 2YO session will offer a sister to the 2006 Series winner Ombre Rose (O'Reilly) and a three-quarter brother by Gallant Guru to last season's winner Ortem Fire. Promising young sires Fully Fledged, Guillotine and Sir Percy will also have their first two-year-olds for sale. The Mixed Bloodstock session includes three broodmares, three yearlings and two unraced horses. Chief among these may be Rose of Danehill and Wrap Around's close relation Speedos (Redoute's Choice-Macozie, by Marscay), in foal to Champion European 2YO Teofilo. Sale graduates will again be eligible to compete for the Southern Bonus Race as well as the new Southern Bonus Preludes.
