Take Charge Indy To Stand At WinStar

Friday, 10th August 2012

Meanwhile, breeding rights to Gr1 Florida Derby winner Take Charge Indy (A.P. Indy-Take Charge Lady, by Dehere) have been secured by leading Kentucky operation WinStar Farm, reports racingpost.com. This news follows the recent announcement that WinStar "will also stand the Grade 1 Arkansas Derby winner and Classic-placed Bodemeister at the end of his career." A top class 2YO, Take Charge Indy "defeated subsequent Belmont Stakes winner Union Rags when successful in the Florida Derby and consequently was a leading fancy for the Kentucky Derby." With an ankle injury temporarily curtailing his career, Take Charge Indy is now back in training for a campaign later this year. Elliott Walden, President and CEO of WinStar Farm commented, "When I looked at [Take Charge Indy] I saw A.P. Indy, who is obviously one of the greatest sires of sires in the industry today. Stallion credentials don't get much stronger than being a Gr1 winner, by a multiple Gr1 winner like A.P. Indy, and out of a multiple Gr1 winner. We're excited about Take Charge Indy's chances of successfully carrying out the A.P. Indy line at stud."
