Fasig-Tipton NY-bred Yearling Average Up 9.9%
Following the 1st night's trade at the annual Fasig-Tipton New York-bred Yearling Sale, there were increases across almost all indicators. According to thoroughbredtimes.com, "Fasig-Tipton reported 64 of 112 horses offered as sold for US$3,657,000, up 19.2% from last year's opening session, when 59 horses brought US$3,067,500", while the 2012 "average price, buoyed by the sale of six horses for six figures, showed a 9.9% increase at US$57,141. Median price ballooned 51.5% to US$50,000". Against that, "The buy-back rated was 42.9%, compared with 35.2% in last year's opening session", however some of that can be put down to "the specter of bigger purses from casino gaming at Aqueduct looming on the horizon, and set a high bar for this year's sale".
