Snitzerland Heading To Melbourne

Tuesday, 14th August 2012

Golden Slipper runner-up Snitzerland (Snitzel–Monte Rosa, by Fraar) will have only one start in Sydney in next Saturday's San Domenico Stakes at Rosehill before chasing sprint titles in Victoria. Trainer Gerald Ryan told The Sydney Morning Herald, "This is a good place to start but if you are a sprinting filly there is nothing here [in Sydney] for you after this race. She is not going to the Golden Rose or the Princess series, which is a great program for fillies stretching out to a mile, so Melbourne is the only option. I'm going to keep her to the sprints and she will go to the Danehill [Stakes] followed by the Champagne Stakes at Moonee Valley, then we can decide where she will go. She could continue to the Coolmore Stakes [on VRC Derby day] or drop back and take on the fillies." Snitzerland had 5 starts as a 2YO, winning twice including the Gr3 VRC Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes, and has earnings of $874,500.
