SAf Gr1 Star Ebony Flyer To Continue Racing
South Africa-bred Jet Master mare Ebony Flyer (Jet Master-Sunshine Lover, by Badger Land) will continue her racetrack career as a 5YO, reports goldcircle.co.za. Owned by a partnership of high profile US outfit Team Valor, Garnor Rupert's Drakenstein Stud and Anant and Vanashree Singh, the triple Gr1 winner is trained by Justin Snaith, who commented on the decision by connections: "We did all the tests and her breathing looks good. Certainly there has been no deterioration so our recommendation, and that of Team Valor, is that she should continue to race. Everyone is very excited about this and we will go for pretty much the same races as last season. We will take it race by race with her, and look after her. The main thing is to get confidence into her." Although the original decision was to retire Ebony Flyer following July's Garden Province Stakes, "the Snaiths were convinced that there are more big races in her and the owners gave the go-ahead after 'wind' tests done on the mare showed that her condition (similar to that of her sire) appeared to have normalised." This was corroborated by veterinarians in the US. Thus far, Ebony Flyer's career has netted her victories in the Gr1 Gr1 SA Fillies Sprint (1200m) at Scottsville, Gr1 Cape Fillies Guineas (1600m) at Kenilworth & Gr1 Majorca Stakes (1600m) at Kenilworth.
