Tyreel Stud Purchases Gr1 Winner Midnight Oil

Friday, 17th August 2012

The 2011 New Zealand Oaks winner Midnight Oil (Keeper-Gilded Light, by Gilded Time) has been purchased by Dean Fleming's Tyreel Stud in a deal put together by Bruce Perry Bloodstock, reports nztm.co.nz. "The lightly raced daughter of [Cambridge Stud stallion] Keeper raced just eight times for four wins including the Gr3 Lowland Stakes and the Gr1 NZ Oaks at her last two starts". Retired for breeding after "unfortunately failing to recover from an injury sustained not long after her Oaks win" Midnight Oil is bred in the purple, being a "great granddaughter of the Australian Oaks winner Our Tristalight (NZ) (Sir Tristram), herself a daughter of the brilliant Tudor Light (NZ) (All A'Light II)".
