Galileo Adds France Gr2

Wednesday, 22nd August 2012

Overnight in France, former shuttler & Gr1 English Derby winner Galileo (Sadler's Wells-Urban Sea, by Miswaki) added a French Gr2 success when the filly Romantica (Galileo-Banks Hill, by Danehill) scored by 1.5-lengths for trainer Andre Fabre over fellow fillies Leaupartie (Stormy River-Kansa, by Linamix) & Trois Lunes (Manduro-Trip to the Moon, by Fasliyev) in the €130,000 Gr2 Prix de la Nonette (2000m) for 3YO fillies at Deauville. Boasting one of the best pedigrees in the world, Juddmonte-bred and owned Romantica is a daughter of globe-trotting multiple Gr1-winning mare Banks Hill, herself a half or full-sibling to 4 other Gr1 winners including Intercontinental, Heat Haze, Cacique & Camps Elysees. Her multiple Gr1-placed Group-winning full-brother Dansili is a champion sire. Yet to be unplaced from her only 5 starts, Romantica finished runner-up in her previous 2 runs in the Gr3 Prix de Psyche (2000m) at Deauville & Gr3 Prix Chloe (1800m) at Chantilly.
