Westbury Sire Captain Rio Wins Stallion Award

Gerry Harvey's Westbury Stud has announced that resident stallion and Gr2 winner Captain Rio (Pivotal – Beloved Visitor, by Miswaki) was crowned the leading domestic stallion at the NZTBA Auckland Breeders Awards. He is the sire of 16 stakes-winners lead by Gr1 VRC Oaks winner Brazilian Pulse (Captain Rio–Sharazad, by Tenby) and Gr1 Manawatu Sires Produce winner Il Quello Veloce (Captain Rio–Nishaani, by Gold Brose). In the past season Captain Rio sired 77 individual winners in the southern-hemisphere from 152 runners and has already started this season in good stead with Gr3 CJC Winter Cup winner Art Beat (Captain Rio–Artemesia, by Peintre Celebre). Captain Rio stands for $7,250 + GST at Westbury Stud with no fee payable until 1 June 2013.
