Dunlop Has Breeders' Cup On Snow Fairy's Radar
Globe-trotting mare Snow Fairy (Intikhab-Woodland Dream, by Charnwood Forest) might be aimed at the rich Breeders Cup meeting in November, with trainer Ed Dunlop expressing a wish to compete there again. Dunlop campaigned Ouija Board (Cape Cross–Selection Board, by Welsh Pageant) to compete at three successive Breeders Cup meetings, winning twice and finishing second the other time. Dunlop told At the Races "She's Snow Fairy, she's not a normal horse, so I'm not saying the Irish Champion will come too soon. We'll see how she is, there are various options, and then make a plan. The Arc is an option, but I have a secret wish to go for the Breeders' Cup this year. She's won twice in Japan - does she need to go back there? Possibly not. So hopefully we'll aim for the Breeders' Cup, with options on the way like the Vermeille maybe under consideration." Snow Fairy has now won in five different nations (Great Britain, Ireland, France, Hong Kong and Japan) and has won 8 of her 20 starts. These include her recent last start Gr1 Prix Jean Romanet at Deauville, two victories in Japan's Gr1 Queen Elizabeth II Commemorative Cup over 2200m at Kyoto in 2011 and 2010, 2010's Gr1 Hong Kong International Cup over 2000m at Sha Tin, 2010's Gr1 Irish Oaks over 2400m at The Curragh, and 2010's Gr1 English Oaks over 12 furlongs at Epsom Downs.
