First Southern Hemisphere Foals Arrive For Equiano
The UK's dual Gr1-winning sire Equiano (Acclamation-Entente Cordiale, by Ela-Mana-Mou) has sired his first Australian foals at Adam Sangster's Swettenham Stud in Nagambie, Victoria. The Equal 3rd Ranked Sprinter of 2010 and twice winner of the prestigious Gr1 King's Stand Stakes, Equiano was swamped by breeders in his first UK season in 2011 serving 127 mares and then 145 mares in 2012. His Australian patronage has been equally strong. His first two foals at Swettenham were both fillies: the first from Plus Jamais, a Redoute's Choice daughter of US Gr1-placed mare Nevermore (by Unbridled), and the second from stakes-placed Chester House mare Anna Dana (ex Mount Helena, by Danzig). Anna Dana, whose yearling colt by Swettenham stallion Kaphero was sold for $110,000 at the 2012 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale, is a half-sister to Darley stallion Street Cry and the dam of Shamardal. Equiano (Fr) has arrived at Swettenham for his second southern book and will stand for an 'early-bird' fee of $13,000. Equiano and his first foals will be on show at the Swettenham Stud stallion parade this Sunday, August 26.
