Hansen Tendon Injury Causes Likely Retirement

Friday, 24th August 2012

Last year's US Champion 2YO and now 3YO colt Hansen (Tapit-Stormy Sunday, by Sir Cat) has injured a tendon and will most likely be retired. He is named after his co-owner Dr Kendall Hansen who told bloodhorse.com, "Hansen has a tendon injury and will likely not race again... I am in shock, and with tears and heartbroken". Hansen was undefeated in 3 starts as a 2YO including a win in the Gr1 Grey Goose Breeders' Cup Juvenile. As a 3YO, Hansen had won 2 of his 6 starts (both at Gr3 level) and run 2nd in the Gr1 Blue Grass Stakes at Kentucky over 1800m.  All up, Hansen has won 5 of 9 starts and has earnings of US$1.8 million.
