Thursday, 30th August 2012

Darley-bred 2010 Gr1 Arlington Million Stakes winner Debussy (Diesis-Opera Comique, by Singspiel) "has been retired to stand at the Llety Stud in Carmathenshire, Wales", reports racingpost.com. His initial fee has been set at £3,500 "filly foal-free return". Debussy is from Gr3 Curragh Park Stakes placegetter Opera Comique, while grand-dam Grace Note (Top Ville-Val de Grace, by Val de Loir) was runner-up at Gr3 level in the Lingfield Oaks Trial Stakes. Debussy also hails "from the family of King George winner Belmez and other stakes performers including Dowland, Forward Lass, Model Girl and River Valley." In a 22 start career, Debussy was also 3rd in the Gr1 Champion Stakes and saluted in the Gr2 Prix Eugene Adam accruing prize-money of £825,000. Llety Stud owner David Hodge enthused, "We are truly delighted to stand a Gr1-winning horse of Debussy's calibre on behalf of our new client, here at Llety. He is an attractive, athletic, well balanced horse with a fantastic attitude and we believe he should to appeal to all levels of the market. We have set his fee at what we feel is a competitive and fair level."
