Gr1 Star Paynter Diagnosed With Colitis
Last start Gr1 winner Paynter (Awesome Again-Tizso, by Cee's Tizzy) has been diagnosed with colitis, reports thoroughbredtimes.com. The 3YO colt was described by vet Dr Cheney as "seriously ill" on Tuesday due to the condition, an inflammation of the colon. He developed a fever shortly after winning the Gr1 Haskell Invitational Stakes on July 29, and missed a start in the Gr1 Travers Stakes on August 25. His owner Ahmed Zayat posted on Twitter "Get well soon Paynter. Say a prayer, he is a special horse... he is very tough." Latest US reports suggest Paynter is "showing improvement".
