Racing Victoria Summons Jockeys To Inquiry
In a move certain to dilute industry attempts to suggest that race-fixing allegations are limited to just one race, theage.com.au reports: "Some of Australia's top jockeys are being ordered to answer questions about their knowledge of suspected race fixing as part of an inquiry launched by racing stewards this week." This is the 2nd investigation into alleged corruption, following that independently undertaken by Victoria's Racing Integrity Commissioner, Sal Perna. The official inquiry by Racing Victoria "will put more pressure on the state government to introduce reforms to ensure that racing authorities can access information about corruption held by law enforcement agencies". The inquiry starts on Monday.
