Doncaster Premier Sale Day-2: Overall Average Falls 5%

Friday, 31st August 2012

Although both the overall average (£26,892) & median (£20,000) were down 5% after £10,622,500 traded hands over the two days of Doncaster Bloodstock's Premier Sale, managing director Henry Beeby was upbeat about the outcome, making the following statement at the end of proceedings: "The DBS Premier Yearling Sales are very important to us but also to the British and Irish bloodstock industry as they set a tone that is often followed throughout the autumn. On that basis the industry should be quietly confident of a steady and solid round of sales in 2012 as we have been delighted to return some really good results once again." He added, "We have enjoyed some excellent prices and a consistent trade highlighted by a superb 85% clearance rate and 8 lots realising £100,000 or more which is double the number last year."
