Swettenham Sire Host Lands Double

Friday, 31st August 2012

Following an eye-catching runner-up by his 3YO daughter Flying Hostess behind boom filly Commanding Jewel at Caulfield last Saturday, exciting young Swettenham Stud sire Host (Hussonet-Colonna Traiana, by Roy) followed up with a quick-fire progeny double at Mornington yesterday courtesy of 3YO colts Hosting (3.5-lengths) & Philippi (2.25-lengths). Both colts have been nominated for the G1 Caulfield Guineas on October 13. Philippi is owned by Rick Jamieson, breeder of undefeated champion mare Black Caviar. Chiliean-bred Host is a son of champion sire Hussonet. He campaigned at the top level throughout his racing career winning Gr1 events in both hemispheres: the Chilean 2000 Guineas and Shadwell Turf Mile at Keeneland. Swettenham Stud owner Adam Sangster stands Host for a $5,000 'early-bird' service fee this year.
