Amaron Wins Italy Gr1 Premio Vittorio Di Capua

In Italy, European champion 4-time Gr1-winning former Darley shuttler Shamardal (Giant's Causeway-Helsinki, by Machiavellian) added a Gr1 success when 3YO colt Amaron (Shamardal-Amandalini, by Bertolini) scored by 1-length for trainer A.Loewe in the €209,000 Gr1 Premio Vittorio Di Capua (1600m) for 3YOs+, over fellow 3YO colt Amarillo (Holy Roman Emperor-Alte Kunst, by Royal Academy) & 3YO filly Monami (Sholokhov-Monbijou, by Dashing Blade). Amaraon was originally a 110,000 guineas (A$136,000) foal at UK Tattersalls & subsequently a 105,000 guineas (A$130,000) yearling at the 2010 Tattersalls November Sale. The win took his record to 4 wins (including the Gr3 Zukunfts Rennen at Baden Baden) & Listed Oppenheim Rennen at Cologne) a placing from 8 starts. He was also 4th in the Gr1 Poule d'Essai des Poulains at Longchamp.
