Lord Kanaloa Wins Japan Gr1 Sprinters Stakes

Tuesday, 2nd October 2012

In Japan, 4YO entire Lord Kanaloa (King Kamehameha-Lady Blossom, by Storm Cat) scored a 0.75-length victory for trainer Takayuki Yasuda in the ¥185.3 million Gr1 Sprinters Stakes (1200m) for 3YO+ at Nakayama, over 5YO mare Curren Chan (Kurofune-Spring Ticket, by Tony Bin) & 5YO entire Dream Valentino (Roses In May-Cosmo Valenti, by Meiner Love). The race is the 8th leg of the Global Sprint Challenge. Denying stable-mate & runner-up Curren Chan 3 consecutive Gr1 wins, Lord Kanaloa took his own record to 7 wins (including this year's Gr3 Silk Road Stakes & 2011's Gr3 Keihan Hai – both over 1200m) from 12 starts. He also finished 3rd in the Gr1 Takamatsunomiya Kinen over 1200m earlier this year.
