Sangster Adds Carrot For NSW Breeders
Swettenham Stud's forward thinking principal Adam Sangster has dangled a carrot in front of NSW owners who generally send their mares to Hunter Valley stallions: send a mare south to Gr1 weight-for-age winning sprinter Master Of Design (Redoute's Choice-Urge To Merge, by Last Tycoon) and Swettenham will cover the cost of transport. It's a tempting deal given both the high fertility of Master Of Design who has 'stopped' 15 of his first 17 mares covered, plus the lure of $18 million from the Super VOBIS & VOBIS Gold incentive schemes. Sangster opined: "He's got a better pedigree and a better race record than all the other young sons of Redoute's Choice standing in the Hunter Valley..." A $2.1 million Inglis Easter purchase, Master Of Design is a Redoute's Choice half-brother to South African Gr1 winner Suntagonal, and hails from the family of leading stallions Danasinga, Towkay and Cullen plus champion mares Tracy's Element and Typhoon Tracy. His 2012 fee is $12,500.
