Ashford Stud To Stand Gr1 Bernardini Son

Thursday, 4th October 2012

Also in the US, it has been announced that last Saturday's Belmont Park Gr1 Gold Cup runner-up Stay Thirsty (Bernardini-Marozia, by Storm Bird) "will begin his stallion career at Coolmore's Ashford Stud in Kentucky next year", reports racingpost.com. Trainer Todd Pletcher and owner Mike Repole are "the same team behind this year's Ashford Stud recruit Uncle Mo." It is intended that Stay Thirsty will have his swansong this year and Repole has kept a "minority interest" in the stallion. Runner-up in the Gr1 Hopeful Stakes as a 2YO, he captured both the Gr1 Travers Stakes and Gr2 Jim Dandy Stakes in his 3YO campaign. He is a half-brother to Gr1-placed Superfly (by Fusaichi Pegasus) & Gr3 winner Andromeda's Hero (by Fusaichi Pegasus).
