Dettori Picks Up Prized Camelot Arc Mount
In what will be his 25th consecutive ride in Sunday's €4-million Gr1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp in France, champion jockey Frankie Dettori has picked up the prized mount of Camelot who was confirmed as a runner by Ballydoyle yesterday, reports thoroughbreddailynews.com. Following the announcement, Dettori said, "It's a shame Godolphin don't have a horse in the race, but I'm really looking forward to it... what has happened in the last two or three days has been unbelievable. Snow Fairy was injured, Nathaniel is out and Joseph [O'Brien, who rides St Nicholas Abbey] can't do the weight on Camelot so the ride became available. It's an honor for me to ride the horse". Commenting on Camelot's St Leger run where the pace didn't suit him, Dettori cautioned: "Coming back to a mile-and-a-half at Longchamp will be his absolute cup of tea. It looks like there's going to be two or three pacemakers, the race will be run at a very high tempo and, if that is the case, it doesn't really matter where I sit".
