Camelot Expected To Stay In Training

Tuesday, 9th October 2012

In the wash-up from the victory of 4YO mare Solemia (Poliglote-Brooklyn's Dance, by Shirley Heights) in Sunday's Gr1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe on a rain-affected Longchamp course, trainer Aidan O'Brien has indicated that 4-time Gr1 winner Camelot (Montjeu-Tarfah, by Kingmambo) is likely to remain in training next season, reports sportinglife.com. He noted: "It was very sporting of the lads to let him run, but he wants fast ground. Joseph (O'Brien) has always said he is a better horse on quicker ground and it's been a long, hard season." Jockey Frankie Dettori agreed, stating, "It was just a long season [and it] took its toll. I had a perfect trip and he took me beautifully into the straight on the bridle, but just as soon I knew we were in trouble and in fairness to the horse he's been going for some time since the Guineas."
