Coolmore Ireland To Stand Oasis Dream Son

Tuesday, 9th October 2012

Coolmore Stud Ireland announced that Power (Oasis Dream-Frappe, by Inchinor), dual Gr1 winner of the Gr1 Irish 2000 Guineas & Gr1 National Stakes before being "injured in a rough renewal of the St. James Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot", will stand his debut stud season in 2013, reports racingpost.com. Retiring with 5 wins and 2 placings from only 9 starts (including victories in his opening 3 2YO missions), he becomes "the first son of Oasis Dream to stand at Coolmore" and also the only runner by Oasis Dream to claim Gr1 victories as a two and three-year-old. From a half-sister to Gr1 winner and sire Footstepsinthesand (by Giant's Causeway) and also Gr1 Phoenix Stakes winner Pedro The Great (by Henrythenavigator), Power is also a half-brother to Gr2 Ribblesdale Stakes-winning filly Thakafaat (by Unfuwain). Trainer Aidan O'Brien enthused, "Power is a smashing horse with lots of tactical speed and a great turn of foot. Unfortunately he sustained an injury at Royal Ascot when a horse came down in front of him and while we thought we'd have him back for an autumn campaign, we've just run out of time."
