Two Kilos Worth Their Weight In Gold

Connections of last weekend's Gr1 Metropolitan winner Glencadam Gold (Refuse to Bend-Sandrella, by Darshaan) had a rare opportunity to thank the handicapper for adding weight to their charge yesterday, when the imported 4YO gelding was penalised an extra 2kg for the Gr1 Caulfield Cup in 11 days time. There were plenty of non-believers when Glencadam Gold's name was bandied about for the Caulfield Cup following his Australian debut victory at Canterbury in mid-August, but trainer Gai Waterhouse's belief in her rising staying star has proved to be spot on. Now into the top 21 – 18 can run – for the big 2400m staying feature, Glencadam Gold appears most likely to gain a start.
