All Too Hard Wins Gr1 Caulfield Guineas

Monday, 15th October 2012

On Saturday at Caulfield, Gr1-winning & 5-times Gr1-placed Patinack Farm freshman stallion Casino Prince (Flying Spur-Lady Capel, by Last Tycoon) celebrated his first Gr1 success when the colt All Too Hard (Casino Prince-Helsinge, by Desert Sun) scored a resolute 0.5-length victory for trainers Michael, Wayne & John Hawkes in the $1 million Gr1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m) for 3YOs, over favoured fellow colt Pierro (Lonhro–Right Note, by Daylami) & the colt Epaulette (Commands–Accessories, by Singspiel). Adding the Gr1 win he needed to elevate him to one of the hottest young stallion prospects in the country, the $1,025,000 2011 Inglis Easter half-brother to undefeated champion Black Caviar took his record to 4 wins (also including the Gr2 Pago Pago Stakes & Gr2 VRC Sires Produce Stakes as a juvenile) & a runner-up (in the Gr3 San Domenico Stakes) from 8 starts for earnings of $1,059,200. A decision has not yet been made on a possible Cox Plate start. For in-depth race, winner & runner details click on the race name in this item.
