Multiple US Gr1 Winner Retired To Stud

Tuesday, 16th October 2012

2011 Eclipse Award finalist Jackson Bend (Hear No Evil-Sexy Stockings, by Tabasco Cat) has been retired to Journeyman Stud in Florida and will stand for US$5,000. He retires the winner of 9 races (including April's Gr1 Carter Handicap over 7 furlongs at Aqueduct & 2011's Gr1 Forego Handicap over 7 furlongs at Saratoga) and 10 placings (including 3rd in the Gr1 Preakness Stakes) from 28 starts and US$1.6million. Trainer Nick Zito told bloodhorse.com, "When you put everything in the proper perspective, it is very unusual for a horse to do what he did. You run competitively in the (Triple Crown) preps, you run well in the Preakness, you tail off and come back and win a Gr1 at Saratoga, you go to the Breeders' Cup Sprint, win the Hal's Hope, and then you run one of the best races of the year in the Carter. It's emotional for me because he's that kind of horse I thought would always be around, he was so sturdy and so tough."
