Judge Rejects Nicolic Stay Of Proceedings Appeal
A Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) judge yesterday rejected an appeal by jockey Danny Nikolic for a stay of proceedings that would allow him to ride during the remainder of Melbourne's Spring Carnival pending an appeal against his 2-year disqualification by Victoria's Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board. According to abc.net.au, Judge Michael Macnamara ruled "it was better to wait for the full appeal to be heard." That will now take place on Wednesday, November 7, the day after this year's Gr1 Melbourne Cup.
