Sky Lantern Heads To BC Juvenile Fillies

Wednesday, 17th October 2012

Boom European juvenile filly Sky Lantern (Red Clubs–Shawanni, by Shareef Dancer) is being prepared to take on America's best 2YO grass females when she contests next month's Breeders' Cup Juvenile Filly Turf, reports turftrax.com. The Richard Hannon-trained filly has had just 5 starts so far which have yielded 3 wins (including the Gr1 Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh & Listed Fillies Sprint at Naas) & 2 runners-up (in the Gr3 Sweet Solera Stakes at Newmarket & Gr3 Prestige Stakes at Newmarket). "Sky Lantern ran all the way to the line in the Moyglare, and we have no worries about the trip in America, while the turf track at Santa Anita invariably rides fast which will suit our filly ideally," commented Hannon on his website. He also noted: "There is no Lasix for two-year-olds this year which makes it a level playing field for all of us, so we will be heading across the Atlantic with our tails up".
