Friday, 19th October 2012

Japan's champion female of 2004 Admire Groove (Sunday Silence-Air Groove, by Tony Bin) was killed when suffering a fall at Northern Farm in Abira Cho, Hokkaido. The 12YO mare, whose progeny to race so far includes 3 winners, set a new record price for a filly when selling for 230,000,000 yen ($2.8 million) at the 2000 JRA Select Sale. A daughter of 1997 JRA Horse of the Year Air Groove, Admire Groove retired with 8 wins (including twice winning the prestigious Gr1 Kyoto Queen Elizabeth II Commemorative Cup) & 4 placings from 21 starts.
