Double Figures For Vinery Freshman Big Brown
US triple Gr1-winner and Vinery Stud freshman Big Brown (Boundary-Mien, by Nureyev) took his tally of individual 2YO winners from his first crop to double figures after flying filly Get Me A Cocktail bolted in to win in the US. The Larry Rivelli-trained local sat three-deep on a hot speed before burning off her rivals to set up a commanding lead into the bend. She kicked strongly in the stretch to race away for a dominant 4-lengths margin in the 1200m maiden. Get Me A Cocktail is the first foal from the unraced mare Impressive Attire whose dam is Gr1 winner Sharp Cat, earner of US$2,032,575. "Those vendors who are taking a Big Brown to the yearling sales in 2013 in Australia are going to be able to trade off his momentum in the USA not only in the sale ring but on the racetrack,'' noted Vinery Australia's nominations manager Adam White. "Unfortunately due to a slight mishap, he didn't shuttle this season but we can't wait for him to return to Scone in 2013 by which time his oldest US progeny will be three-year-olds and we know what an unbelievable horse Big Brown was himself at three! There is just so much to look forward to.''
