Also at Ascot, Darley's former Australian champion 1st-season sire Exceed And Excel (Danehill-Patrona, by Lomond) celebrated a Gr1 triumph when 4YO entire Excelebration (Exceed and Excel-Sun Shower, by Indian Ridge) scored by 3-lengths for trainer Aidan O'Brien in the £1 million Gr1 Queen Elizabeth II Stakes (1600m) for 3YOs+, over 6YO entire Cityscape (Selkirk-Tantina, by Distant View) & 3YO filly Elusive Kate (Elusive Quality-Gout De Terroir, by Lemon Drop Kid). Runner-up in this race last year, Excelebration took his record to 8 wins (including last start's Gr1 Prix Jacques Le Marois at Deauville, 2011 Gr1 Prix du Moulin de Longchamp, Gr2 Hungerford Stakes at Newbury, Gr2 Mehl Mulhens Rennen at Cologne and 2012 Gr3 Gladness Stakes at the Curragh) and 5 placings (including runners-up in 2012's Gr1 Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot & Gr1 Lockinge Stakes at Newbury & 3rd in 2011's Gr1 St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot) from 14 starts.
