Geelong Cup Has French Flavour Again
Following dominant performances by French raiders Americain (Dynaformer-America, by Arazi) and Dunaden (Nicobar-La Marlia, by Kaldounevees) in the last 2 runnings of the Gr3 Geelong Cup, USA bred, French-trained Brigantin (Cozzene-Banyu Dewi, by Poliglote) has been "sensationally backed" to win tomorrow's race, reports smh.com.au. Interestingly, Geoffrey Faber (representing Dunaden's owner Sheikh Fahad al-Thani of Qatar) endorsed the Melbourne Cup threat posed by Brigantin, who conquered Dunaden in the Gr2 Prix Vicomtesse Vigier in 2012 at level weights: "As it stands, we have to give [Brigantin] five kilograms and even more if we get a penalty in the Melbourne Cup so he's the horse to beat ... He looks magnificent, and he's the horse we're worried about.''
