Brigantin In The Wars

Friday, 26th October 2012

French import Brigantin (Cozzene-Banyu Dewi, by Poliglote) is sporting a bandage above and below his nearside hock and has had poultices placed on both forelegs in the aftermath to the running of the Gr3 Geelong Cup on Wednesday, reports dailytelegraph.com.au. Stewards reported Brigantin twice brushed Geelong Cup second place-getter Chateau Margaux in the home straight. The contact prompted jockey Umberto Rispoli to lodge an unsuccessful protest against Chateau Margaux.  Brigantin's track rider however dispelled any major concerns regarding the popular import's upcoming Gr1 Melbourne Cup assignment with a glib, "He's ok."
