Cartier Award Puts Frankel In Class Of His Own

Friday, 26th October 2012

In the UK, as the racing public reflects on the celestial career of undefeated 10-time Gr1 winner Frankel (Galileo-Kind, by Danehill), it now appears certain that he will "become the first to win the Cartier Horse Of The Year award in successive years" in it's 22 year history, reports sportinglife.com.  The only other twice winner of the prestigious title is 7-times Gr1 winner and dual Gr1 Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf champion Ouija Board (Cape Cross-Selection Board, by Welsh Pageant) who took home the titles in 2004 and 2006. Frankel (192 points) is the length of the straight clear of his nearest rival Camelot (168 points). Trainer Sir Henry Cecil reflected: "I cannot believe in the history of racing that there has ever been a better racehorse".
