Thorn Park Still Fighting For Life
Windsor Park's Gr1-winning stallion Thorn Park (Spinning World-Joy, by Bluebird) will need to display all the courage exhibited by his Gr1 Cox Plate winning son Ocean Park (Thorn Park-Sayyida, by Zabeel) as he "fights for survival in New Zealand after having surgery for laminitis last week", reports dailytelegraph.com.au. 13-year-old Thorn Park was stood down from stud duties this season after contracting the painful and life threatening foot condition. Windsor Park's Mike Moran commented: "It has been a rollercoaster ride, which you do get with this condition ... He had surgery earlier this week and we're lucky we've got back-up from (world-renowned) Dr Ric Redden in America. We are emailing him X-rays, and it's lucky we have him at the touch of a button ... There's a long way to go, but the horse is an amazing fighter and I just hope he can come through it."
