It's A Dundeel Still Horse To Beat In Derby

Tuesday, 30th October 2012

Despite a slightly lacklustre run when second in Saturday's Gr2 Mitchelton Wines Vase as a pronounced favourite, rival trainer David Payne still suggests easing Gr1 VRC Derby first elect It's A Dundeel (High Chaparral-Stareel, by Zabeel) is the horse to beat in the 3YO Classic this weekend, reports racingandsports.com.au. Payne is preparing rival Derby chance Honorius (Holy Roman Emperor-Zarinia, by Intikhab) and commented: "I don't think It's A Dundeel lost much from a Derby point of view [from Saturday's defeat] ... I don't think the Moonee Valley track suited him ... I'm sure he will be much better on the bigger track at Flemington but I also think it will suit my horse as well."
