Frankel Debut Fee Set

Thursday, 15th November 2012

Meanwhile, an extremely high, but neither unexpected nor unwarranted, debut fee of £125,000 has been set for undefeated champion galloper Frankel (Galileo-Kind, by Danehill). The 10-time Gr1 winner is expected to cover one of the greatest ever books of mares for a freshman stallion at Juddmonte Farms' Banstead Manor in England. Juddmonte Farms' general manager Philip Mitchell explained the thought process behind the decision, noting: "The fee for Frankel reflects his merits as being perhaps the greatest racehorse we have ever witnessed. He is by Galileo, who is now recognised as the best sire in the world, and out of Kind, a winner of six races (from five to seven furlongs) and herself a daughter of one of the most influential stallions in the history of thoroughbred breeding, Danehill." To put the fee into context, fellow Banstead Manor freshman Bated Breath, Gr1-placed 5 times, will debut at £8,000.
