At Flemington in Melbourne, deceased former Widden Stud shuttler Anabaa (Danzig-Balbonella, by Gay Mecene) added a black-type success when 6YO gelding Kutchinsky overpowered his rivals down the straight to score a 1.5-lengths victory for trainer Danny O'Brien (his third from the first 5 races) in the $121,500 Listed Roy Higgins Quality (2600m), over 5YO mare Dame Claire (Danehill Dancer-Lovely Actress, by Kaldoun) & fellow 6YO gelding Tuscan Fire (Tuscanos-Jetfire Lass, by Jetball). Kutchinsky (a $290,000 yearling at the 2008 Inglis Easter Sale) took his record to 5 wins (also including Brisbane's Gr3 Grand Prix Stakes) & 7 placings (including runner-up in the Gr1 Queensland Derby) from 32 starts for $458,742 earnings).
