Inglis Melb Premier Day-2: Blue Riband Success
Yesterday's 2nd day of the Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale included the inaugural Blue Riband session featuring horses with 'Classic potential'. Any doubts about how it would fare given Australia's general preference for precocious type yearlings was swept aside with a final average of $116,654 and a clearance rate of 85 percent. The overall average price for the sale has risen to $80,888 which is a 5 percent increase on the corresponding figure at the end of Day-2 last year; 75 percent of all lots offered have been sold. "It was great to see so much competition on yearlings bred to excel over middle and staying distances, with buyers from Victoria, New South Wales, South Africa and Singapore purchasing from this new concept," stated Inglis managing director Mark Webster.
