Fee Set For New Waikato Sire

Thursday, 7th March 2013

Million dollar yearling and subsequent Gr1 New Zealand Two Thousand Guineas winner Rock 'n' Pop (Fastnet Rock-Popsy, by Sir Tristram) will stand at Waikato Stud in the coming season. Waikato Stud principal Mark Chittick said in a press release, "We are confident that at NZ$12,000 he represents superb value for astute breeders. There are just three Gr1-winning sons of Fastnet Rock at stud in Australasia, so we are only too pleased to be able to provide the opportunity to breed to one of these in New Zealand. Selecting stallions for Waikato Stud is one of my most important jobs and Rock 'n' Pop certainly fits our strict criteria brilliantly."  He will stand alongside O'Reilly, Pins, Savabeel, Fast 'N' Famous, No Excuse Needed and Rios. Rock 'n' Pop won 3 (including the Gr1 NZ Two Thousand Guineas & Listed Karaka 3YO Mile) and placed in 4 (including the Gr1 NZ Derby & Gr1 International Stakes at Te Rapa) of his 11 starts earning NZ$360,112. He is the second stakes winner for his Gr1 NZ Derby-winning dam, Popsy.
