Leading Godolphin Mare Dies

Wednesday, 13th March 2013

Dual Classic winner Kazzia (Zinaad-Khoruna, by Lagunas) has died at the age of 14 following post-foaling complications at Dalham Hall Stud in Newmarket, reports the-racehorse.com. She was the last filly to complete the English One Thousand Guineas/Oaks double, and later won the Gr1 Flower Bowl Invitational Stakes in the US at the end of her 3YO season. All up she won 5 races (3 at Gr1 level, as well as the Gr3 Premio Dormello at Milan) from 7 starts and earned £808,180. Kazzia was equally as good at stud, having 3 stakes winners from only 5 foals, including Gr1 Dubai Sheema Classic winner Eastern Anthem (by Singspiel). Her foal, a filly by Dubawi, has survived.
