Sacred Decision Either Way For Innes
Facing the difficult decision of riding More Than Sacred (More Than Ready-Danalaga, by Danehill) in this weekend's Gr1 New Zealand Oaks or crossing the Tasman to take the equally enticing mount on Sacred Falls (O'Reilly–Iguazu's Girl, by Redoute's Choice) in the Gr1 Randwick Guineas, South Auckland based hoop Leith Innes has opted to remain in NZ, reports theinformant.co.nz. Both horses race in the colours of Raffles Farm and have equally strong chances in the respective features, with the maturing More Than Sacred coming off a win in the Gr3 Sunline Vase and currently sitting second elect for the Oaks. Meanwhile, Sacred Falls (to be ridden in the Randwick Guineas by Corey Brown) has already tasted Gr1 success in the New Zealand 2000 Guineas at Riccarton last November, with his lead-up into the Guineas a solid 5th in the Gr2 Royal Sovereign Stakes mid March. Raffles Farm manager Bruce Sherwin commented, "We originally gave Leith the choice of riding More Than Sacred or Sacred Falls and his reply was that he would be happy to ride either but in the end he left the decision to us… That was last week when there was still a chance that Habibi would be starting at Trentham and Pierro and All Too Hard were still possibles for the Randwick Guineas. More Than Sacred can be a bit quirky, so we made the call for Leith to ride her and went looking for a rider for Sacred Falls."
