Entries Close 18 March For Hong Kong Features
Still on Hong Kong news, entries for two highly decorated Hong Kong Jockey Club international features are closing soon. The Gr1 Queen Elizabeth II Cup, run over the classic distance of 2000m on April 28, is traditionally an important target for overseas raiders and carries a lucrative purse of HK$14 million. Meanwhile, the Gr1 Champions Mile (1600m) will be run at Sha Tin on May 5 with a prize pool totalling HK$12 million. Becoming an international Gr1 event in 2007, its honour roll includes HK Horse of the Year Good Ba Ba (currently campaigning in Australia after a comeback), while 2012 saw Xtension partnered by boom NZ jockey James McDonald produce back-to-back victories in the race. Entries for both races close March 18. For full details click on each race's name.
