Exceed And Excel Colt Tops HK Sale
At Saturday's 2013 Hong Kong International Sale, held at The Sha Tin Racecourse Parade Ring, Lot 13, an Exceed And Excel three-parts brother to Gr1 Blue Diamond Stakes runner-up No Looking Back, topped proceedings at HK$6.2 million. The 16 catalogued lots sold for an aggregate of HK$47.5 million, and William A. Nader, the Club's executive director of Racing, noted: "It was a good sale today, there were a lot of good choices for owners and it was about what we expected given that season 2012-13 has been more of a buyers' market... As a comparison, the prices are higher than December's Sale when the horses went for an average of just under HK$2.6 million per lot and this time that figure was marginally below HK$3 million per lot." Nader added, "This season the Club has lost money on the two sales but that's okay. In some previous seasons we've made money but that's not what drives this, our overriding aim and hope is that these horses can go on and have productive racing careers in Hong Kong. The true test of these sales is not the money we make or lose at the sale; it's helping owners go away from today with a horse that will do them proud in years to come." The Club will continue with its format of holding sales in each of March & December.
