Hvasstan Wins Gr2 Alister Clark Stakes
At Moonee Valley last Friday night, Coolmore's multiple Gr1-winning Australian-bred stallion & current champion Australian sire Fastnet Rock (Danehill-Piccadilly Circus, by Royal Academy) added a group success when the colt Hvasstan (Fastnet Rock-Snow Hero, by True Hero) scored by a length for trainer Peter Gelagotis in the $219,100 Gr2 Alister Clark Stakes (2040m) for 3YO c&gs, over fellow colts Philippi (Host-Soorena, by Encosta de Lago) & Sheer Talent (Redoute's Choice-St. Katherine, by Barathea). Finishing 4th in the recent Gr1 Australian Guineas at Flemington, Hvasstan (a $260,000 yearling at the 2011 Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale) took his record to 4 wins (also including the Gr3 Norman Robinson Stakes at Caulfield) & 2 runners-up from 10 starts for $441,375 earnings.
