Caulfield Cup Winner Descarado Retired

Wednesday, 20th March 2013

Dual Gr1 winner Descarado (High Chaparral-Karamea Lady, by Lord Ballina) has been retired after the ongoing "leg issues" that derailed his 2012 Sydney Autumn campaign have not responded sufficiently to treatment, reports racenet.com.au. A Twitter post by managing owners Henderson Racing yesterday declared a racetrack comeback for him was a "lost cause" adding, "Descarado retired after 12 month leg issue, we could not get right". He retires with 5 wins (also including the Gr1 Caulfield Stakes) from 21 starts and $2.6 million in earnings.
