First US Mares In Foal To Americain

Thursday, 21st March 2013

Swettenham Stud's Melbourne Cup-winning shuttler Americain (Dynaformer-America, by Arazi) has had his first mares tested in foal at Calumet Farm. Covering his initial northern hemisphere book in Kentucky, Americain's inaugural PPT was from Gr2-winning mare Raw Gold (Rahy–Golden Thatch by Slew o'Gold) who captured the Gr2 Landaluce Stakes & Listed Althea Stakes at Hollywood Park as a 2YO before claiming the Gr3 Santa Ynez Stakes, Listed Santa Paula Stakes & Listed Linda Card Stakes as a 3 & 4YO at Santa Anita. "Americain already has 75 mares and, like Raw Gold, there's lots of stakes-winners and dams of stakes winners among them," Calumet manager Eddie Kane commented. "There are more bookings coming in every week." And in Australia, Swettenham Stud principal Adam Sangster said the response to Americain has "been overwhelming... We had already accepted a significant number of mares and then we received another 41 bookings during the Melbourne Premier Sale. His Lifetime Breeding Rights are also fully subscribed."
