Planteur Sold Ahead Of Dubai World Cup
In further Dubai World Cup news, last year's 3rd-placed 6YO entire Planteur (Danehill Dancer- Plante Rare, by Giant's Causeway) has been purchased by Sheikh Joann al Thani ahead of a return trip to Dubai, reports thoroughbreddailynews.com. The website's sister publication Jour de Galop was told by the Sheikh's bloodstock agent Nicolas de Watrigant: "Planteur finished third in the race last year, even though he hadn't run since September 2011. His trainer Marco Botti thinks he is even better than he was in 2012." Last month, in his prep run for the Dubai World Cup, Planteur set a new track record at Lingfield when winning the Winter Derby Trial. He currently boasts 6 wins (including 2011's Gr1 Prix Ganay at Longchamp over 2100m, 2011's Gr2 Prix d'Harcourt at Longchamp over 2000m, 2010's Gr2 Prix Noailles at Longchamp over 2100m) & 8 placings (including 2012's Gr1 Prix d'Ispahan at Longchamp & 2012's Dubai World Cup at Meydan, plus runner-up in both 2010's Gr1 Grand Prix de Paris at Longchamp & Gr1 Prix du Jockey Club at Chantilly) from 19 starts for £1,499,421 earnings.
