Williams Yet To Commit To Ruud Awakening

Thursday, 21st March 2013

Despite no firm commitment by star hoop Craig Williams to partner exciting NZ galloper and resounding last start Gr1 Diamond Stakes winner Ruud Awakening (Bernardini-Dawn Almighty, by Danehill) in next month's Gr1 Golden Slipper (April 6), trainer Stephen Marsh remains confident of the prospect. He commented: "Craig's obviously trying out a few more mounts and he's definitely got the front running to ride our filly and I think [he] will be on her." Williams guided the filly to a runaway win in the Listed Karaka Million at Ellerslie prior to her Gr1 romp and she appears to be further on the up heading towards her Sydney assignment with Marsh adding, "She is just going super and I gave her a quiet gallop on the course proper at Cambridge (on Tuesday) by herself and she went beautifully… She's right at the top of her game and going so well I can't believe it… It's going to be exciting and hopefully we can bring the Golden Slipper home".
