Abdullah Sanctions Frankel Southern Hemisphere Matings

Thursday, 28th March 2013

Juddmonte Farms principal Prince Khalid Abdullah has agreed to champion Frankel covering "around 20 mares" to southern hemisphere time, reports England's telegraph.co.uk. Despite reports from Australia that a possible Royal Ascot return for Black Caviar hinges on a mating with Frankel, Juddmonte's general manager Philip Mitchell said that there had been no approach from her connections: "We have had no direct contact with the owners of Black Caviar, but if at some point they wished to discuss a visit to Frankel, we would be very happy to have that discussion." Mitchell also revealed that interest from the southern hemisphere has been very strong, and that the decision to allow access (for a fee believed to be £100,000) to a "very small and select group of mares [is consistent with what] we have done in the past with other stallions Dansili and Oasis Dream."
